Trail

Where it comes from
The light cycles from the 1982 film, and before them an arcade cabinet where two players drew walls at each other. It is the only game in this collection where you never fire anything and never pick anything up: the only thing you can do to the other one is take away room.
How to play
- Two trails that never stop growing. Whoever hits something first loses: a wall, their own trail, or the other one.
- You never stop and you never go back. All you do is turn: tap the left half of the board or the left button to turn left, the right to turn right.
- Two buttons, not four arrows. You are steering something that is always moving — «left» means turn, not go west, and with four arrows you have to translate in your head every time.
- Both move at the same instant. If you both aim at the same square, you both lose.
- One star drives straight until it cannot. Two stars counts the room it has left. Three stars counts yours as well, and picks the turn that widens its room and narrows yours.
What makes this one different
The game is not avoiding walls, it is building them: every turn you make takes space away from the other one too. The number at the bottom is how much room you have left ahead of you, and closing yourself into a small room is the only way to lose that is not crashing straight away. Three stars counts your room as well as its own, and picks the turn that widens one and narrows the other.
