TenTen
Puzzle · plays in your browser, no download
Clear the sheet: pair equal digits, or two that add up to ten.
Where it comes from
The pen-and-paper game played on squared exercise books, where you cross out pairs that match or make ten and copy out what is left. It has no author and no date, which is the mark of the games that actually work: it survived on being passed between desks.
How to play
- Clear the whole sheet by taking numbers away in pairs.
- Tap one number and the game lights up the ones it can take.
- No pairs left? Press +: what is left is copied again at the bottom. You only get so many.
What makes this one different
Two numbers can go when they are the same or when they add up to ten, but only if they can see each other: side by side, above and below, in diagonal, or next in reading order with nothing but empty squares in between. That last one is what makes a cleared row open up pairs that were nowhere near each other.
When there are no pairs left, the plus button copies what is left over at the bottom and you go again — but you only get so many of those, so clearing the sheet in one pass is the thing to aim for. Tap a number and the ones it can take light up.
