Nest
Puzzle · plays in your browser, no download
An empty room and a row of furniture that all has to fit. The bed and the wardrobe go against a wall, nothing blocks the door, and at five stars there is barely a square to spare.
Where it comes from
Home design games, where you furnish a room piece by piece, are some of the most played on phones and on YouTube Playables. Most of them are about choosing; this one is about fitting, so there is something to win.
How to play
- An empty room seen from above, and a row of furniture below. Everything has to fit.
- Drag a piece into the room: green means it fits there, red means it does not. Tap a piece to turn it a quarter.
- The bed, the bookshelf, the wardrobe and the TV have a back: it goes against a wall.
- Nothing in front of the door: the green square by the door stays free. Pieces cannot overlap.
- More stars means a bigger room and a fuller one: at five stars the furniture covers three quarters of the floor.
What makes this one different
Packing furniture is a puzzle you already know from moving house: the big pieces first, the awkward ones against the wall, and the last armchair never fits. Here the wall pieces have a back that must touch a wall, which takes away most of the easy spots, and the square in front of the door has to stay free.
Every room is furnished first and then emptied, so a way to fit everything always exists, and the test puts the furniture back with the moves of the game itself to prove it. More stars means a bigger room, filled almost to the last square, with fewer one-square pieces to plug the gaps.
