Fruit comes up from the bottom of the screen and you cut it with a stroke of your finger or your mouse. Take several in one unbroken stroke and it pays far more than taking them one at a time. And somewhere in there is a bomb, which is the entire reason the game works.
Where it comes from
Cutting fruit out of the air with a finger is a 2010 idea, and it arrived at the right moment: phones had just learned to feel a finger sliding, and nearly every game was using that to press pretend buttons. Here the finger does not press — it cuts, and the length of the gesture is the score.
The bomb is what holds the whole thing together. Without it the best play would always be to sweep a finger everywhere as fast as possible; with it, every wide gesture is a bet. That is why a game with a single verb lasts longer than two minutes.

Because the bomb count is three rather than one, this is a game about pacing rather than perfection: you can afford to be caught out, but not three times, and the fruit comes faster the longer you survive.
Our version
Fruit arrives from below and from the sides rather than only straight up, which means the stroke that collects the most is rarely a straight line. It runs in a browser tab on a phone or a laptop.
Three things that help
Wait half a second. Cutting the first fruit the moment it appears is the cheapest possible stroke. Let three get into the air and take them together.
Cut across, not along. A horizontal stroke crosses more trajectories than a vertical one, because everything on screen is travelling up and down.
When a bomb is on screen, make small strokes. Give up the combo. A combo is worth points; the third bomb is worth the game.
