Where it comes from
Hide and seek, which every child plays and which phones have been remaking since about 2020. What the phone versions added, and what is here, is that the danger is not sight but *sound*: the oldest rule of the game in the dark, where you hold your breath not because he might look at you but because he might hear you.
How to play
- Find every key in the dark house, then get to the door. The bar at the bottom says how many you still need.
- Touch and drag: the further you hold your finger from yourself, the faster you go. On a keyboard, the arrows walk you slowly.
- Step into a wardrobe and you nearly vanish. He has to be right on top of you to find you there.
What makes this one different
Find every key in the dark house and get to the door. Walking slowly makes no sound at all; running does, and the circle it draws is exactly how far the man hunting you can hear it. He does not chase what he sees — he goes to where he heard you, which is a place you are no longer in if you kept moving.
The maze is dug, not sprinkled. Scattering walls at random leaves sealed rooms where a key cannot be reached, and the house is unwinnable without it showing; digging from the starting corner makes every empty cell reachable by construction. Then the house is played through before it is handed out — and the thing that plays it is the game itself, not a copy of it: the check puts a finger where a careful person would and calls the same step the game calls.
