Fuse
Puzzle · plays in your browser, no download
Swipe and the whole grid slides. Two equal tiles that meet become one of double the value.
Where it comes from
The sliding-tile puzzle that went round the world in 2014, where equal numbers merge and double. It was written in a weekend and given away, and it is the one modern puzzle that earned its place beside the old ones: one rule, no timer, and a board that fills up while you think.
How to play
- Swipe anywhere and the whole grid slides that way — arrow keys work too.
- Win when you build the tile shown at the bottom: 128, 512 or 1024.
- A full grid is not the end if two equal tiles are still touching.
What makes this one different
Four equal tiles in a row make two pairs, not one big tile, and a tile that has just fused does not fuse again in the same slide — those two rules are what stop the board solving itself. Win by building 128, 512 or 1024. One star is the easy one because the board is bigger: five by five, so there is room to think.
A new tile appears after every move, which is why a full board is not the end as long as two equal tiles are still touching. Swipe anywhere or use the arrow keys; the whole grid slides, so a move you make for one corner rearranges the other three.
