Five dice, three rolls, thirteen boxes. Beat the target.
Where it comes from
The poker dice family, and the thirteen-box score sheet that has been sold in a cup since the nineteen-fifties. The dice are not the game: the sheet is. Thirteen boxes, each used once, and a bonus for filling the top half properly.
How to play
- Roll five dice. Tap a die to keep it, then roll again — three rolls a turn.
- Then put the throw in one of the thirteen boxes. Each box is used once, and the number you would score is written in it.
- The six boxes with a die face count only that number. The others want a shape: three the same, four the same, three plus two, four or five in a row, all five the same.
- The blue bar fills with the six top boxes: reach it and you get thirty-five extra points.
- Beat the target at the top and you win. One star asks for 150, three stars for 245.
What makes this one different
Five dice, three rolls, thirteen boxes, and each box is used once — so the hard part is not the throw, it is deciding which box to spend it on. Fill the six number boxes well enough and you collect thirty-five extra. One star asks for 150 points, three stars for 245.
The thirteen boxes are the game: a throw that is worth nothing in one box is worth plenty in another, and the box you waste early is the one you need late. Four or five in a row and five of a kind are the ones worth chasing, and chasing them is how you end up filling the chance box with rubbish.
